The Black Student Advocate Network is a media company dedicated to advocating for Black school employees and families with children in K-12 school districts. Our mission is to ensure fair and equitable treatment within the educational system by holding school districts accountable and assisting families in obtaining necessary services.
Our Six Key Initiatives:
- Reduce/Deter Bullying: Implementing strategies to prevent and address bullying incidents.
- Educate Parents on Basic Student Rights: Empowering parents with knowledge about their children’s educational rights.
- Increase Parent Involvement: Encouraging active participation of parents in their children’s education.
- STOP Pregnancy to Prison Pipeline: Educating young women on the importance of nutrition before pregnancy to prevent future challenges.
- Increase Financial Literacy: Providing resources to enhance financial understanding within the community.
- Improve Perception/Knowledge of Self: Promoting positive self-awareness and cultural identity among students.
As of August 15, 2024, they have conducted over 7,500 consultations, participated in 831 IEP/504/school meetings, and assisted in 16 expulsion hearings. Our advocates are committed to addressing the unique needs of every Black employee and family, striving for a safe and respectful educational environment.
